Belgian Pilots Mystery?
I am trying to solve a mystery involving the escape of my Grandfather Major Bill Potts of the Northumberland Fusiliers from St Valery in 1940. He made his way during his escape from France to North Africa and on to Casablanca in Morocco in September of that year. It was here that he was captured by the Vichy French and interned in a POW camp at Mediouna.
2 Belgian Flying Officers who had also escaped from the advancing Germans had also been captured and imprisoned with him. I know that they were called Regout and Borisovitch. They later escaped together and made their way to Casablanca and boarded a Portuguese Steamer called the Mar Azul which then sailed and was met at Cape Spartel by HMS Kelvin. I know that Borisovitch had a disfigured face as a result of a flying accident but know very little else or what happened to them both.
My Grandfather died in 1951 so I never knew him.
Can any of our Belgian friends shed some light on these 2 individuals??
Best Regards
Chester
