Belgian Pilots Mystery?
Hi,
I am trying to find out some information on 2 Belgian (Flying Officers?) called Regout and Borisovitch. They escaped the German invasion and made their way to Casablanca in Morocco. It is here that they met my Grandfather Major Bill Potts of the 7th Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. They all ended up being interned in a Vichy French Internment Camp at Mediouna in September 1940 after my grandfathers escape from St Valery in France. They then escaped from this camp and made their way to Casablanca where as far as I know they got on a Portugese ship called the Mar Azul which sailed to Cape Spartel and was met by HMS Kelvin where they were transferred and then on to Gibraltar and the UK.
I am not 100% sure that Borisovitch and Regout made it and would like to know as much about them as possible and what became of them??? My grandafther died in 1951 and I never knew him, and I am trying to research his escape story. I would be grateful if any of our Belgian friends could find anything out. I beleive that Borisovitch had a disfigured face as a result of a flying accident??
Best Regards
Chester
