Hello All,
Some sad news to report tonight. General Albert P. "Bub" Clark passed away this morning in Colorado Springs at the age of 96.
General Clark was a fighter pilot in the 31st Fighter Group. In July of 1942 he was shot down near Abbevile, France and spent the remainder of the war as a POW at Stalag Luft III. He was the first American in the camp.
General Clark was the head of security for the "Great Escape." "Big S" was his title. He did not participate in the escape because the Germans moved him to another Compund just before the event.
In his post war career he served as Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy.
Quite a patriot and more so, a wonderful gentleman.
