Sgt Fuji - 68th Sentai

Hello and happy Easter from Greece

i would like to ask if anyone have any information about Sgt Fuji of 68th Sentai. According to the book MacArthur Eagles he was shot down by Lt. Haniotis in 16 October 1943 having already to his credit 3 Thunderbolt kills. Any information or photo about him is crucial. Also does anybody knows if in October 1943 68th Sentai flew mix formations of Oscars and Tonys.

Thanks in advance
Dimitris

Re: Sgt Fuji - 68th Sentai

Nick Millman mentions in Osprey's Ki-61 and Ki-100 Aces that from 2 October 1943 the 68th Sentai started flying Oscars left behind by the 24th Sentai (page 23).

A bit further down that page is a description of the air battle by 2Lt Haniotis (who claimed a Zeke). His victim indeed appears to have been the 68th Sentai's Sgt Maj Jakichi Fuji (after claiming three P-47s earlier that day).
