Ta152C Operational Log Help
Hello,
I am new here so please bear with me. I am looking for a copy of the log that supposedly showed the 2 operational Ta152C's at the end of April 1944 of JG301. I am almost sure I saw a copy of it in a book I have but cannot locate it to save my life. I was almost positive it was a Crandall book but cannot locate it. I am pulling what little hair I have left out. Am I nuts? Didn't I see a copy of it somewhere? I was doing research for a 1/48th scale model I was wanting to build. Any help would be appreciated. Re: Ta152C Operational Log Help
I do have that book. Yes it has some of the information I was looking for but somewhere I swear someone had a photo copy of the wartime log. I really think I saw it but I'm not sure where now. Thank you for your help though. It is a fantastic book.

Re: Ta152C Operational Log Help
Jim,
when you say "log" do you mean copies of a flight log (aka "Flugbuch"), personal log of the pilot's flights? If so, that should not be hard to find - no matter where you had seen the copy: afaik, there are not that many of those around. To my mind come Willi Reschke, Walter Loos, Josef Keil... for the first two, I have copies. Reschke has recorded a total of 7 flights with the Ta 152, only two of which were "operational" (combat missions) - "White 1" and "Green 9". Walter Loos's log shows four flights in Ta 152 - One in "3" and three in "4" but no colors given. Andreas |

Re: Ta152C Operational Log Help
Two (2) operational Ta-152C's in April, 1944. And I'm a Chinese jet pilot. V6/VH+EY first flight was 12 December 1944. V7/CI+XM first flight was 8 January 1945. V8/GW+QA first flight was 15 January 1945. AFAIK, the Ta-152C-0 prototypes never became operational. JG-301 flew a few Ta-152H-0/1 series aircraft in Feb/April 1945.

Re: Ta152C Operational Log Help
Andreas, if you have a copy of Reschke's Flugbuch then the entry for April 8, 1945 might be of interest. It was on that day that he and Blum flew to Erfurt-North to pick up two Ta-152s as he recounts in his book on JG301/302. Though, in his book, he claims these to have been Ta152-H-1's, the pick-up location and other references showing 2-Ta152C's on strength with JG301 at the end of April have led to some theorizing that the 2 aircraft picked up on the 8th were actually C's.

Comparing Hitchcock's Ta 152 book and Reschke's book I came to the same theory. Anything else to confirm this theory? |

Re: Ta152C Operational Log Help
For an account of Ta 152 operations I recommend Luftwaffe im Focus, Nr. 29.
