NJG2 January 4th 1941

Hi,

Can anyone please confirm if NJG2 were active on the night of January 4th 1941. A Wellington was attacked by a 'Me110' at around 18:30hrs south of Marham. I am aware that NJG2 were equipped with JU88C and Do17Z of II./NJG2. Were either of these types active on this night. Also to confirm that the sighting of a Me110 was a case of misidentification.

TIA

Steve

The answer is yes. A single ac (not specified but Ju 88 or Do 17, not Bf 110) attacked Marham at 1926 hrs and spotted a Wellington. No names or further details

Agree with Chris, but may add that the intruder attacking Marham did not report a 'Feindberührung' or contact with/attack on an enemy aircraft.

Cheers, Theo

Hi Theo,

Thats interesting as the crew reported cannon fire?, also the 3 Group HQ Records Book records the Wellington attacked.

The Germans would not have recorded damaged or probables hence no combat report would have been filed

Hi Chris,

Appreciate that, its Theo's post that intrigues me, if there is no report 'Feindberührung' or contact with/attack on an enemy aircraft, who fired the cannons as witnessed by the Marham crews ?
