Last RAF airmen captured in Croatian POW camp
On 1st May 1945 Cpl Ingalis Donald 11051a06 arrived to Croatian POW camp in Zagreb.
Please, can you help me to find out when was he downed, from which aircraft, to which unit he flew? Is there a document, equivalent to USAAF Escape statement? Thank you for reading and help. Re: Last RAF airmen captured in Croatian POW camp
Ingalis was US airmen, and yes, there is his Escape statement.
Actually there are all 52+1 US Escape statements, and 4 British Escape statements from group that was in Zagreb, which makes it pretty well covered. It was not regular PoW camp - it was just transit camp, and since german rail and camp system broke, they were simply left there. Last airmen to arrive there was not american. |
