Adventures of Hajo Herrmann in Spring 1940
Trying to find more info on a couple of incidents involving Hajo Herrmann.
In an earlier thread I posted that Bloedorn and Herrmann had flown together. They did, just not for the date that particular conversation was about. At the beginning of the Norwegian campaign Bloedorn was flying as an observer with Herrmann. On 10 April their's was one of several KG 4 He111s that overshot the runway at Oslo. Does anyone else have any other info? Also, on 31 May Herrmann was shot down off Dunkirk. His crew survived. Does anyone have anymore info on that incident. (Both of the above are from his bio 'Eagle's Wings'. The later incident is listed in the GQM reports, listing him by name.) |

Re: Adventures of Hajo Herrmann in Spring 1940
Hello Jim,
I would be interested too to learn about the events on 31st May 1940. Hermann's regular Ju.88 was the 5J+CR, but no idea if this same aircraft was shot down off Dunkirk... Regards, Hans Nauta |

Re: Adventures of Hajo Herrmann in Spring 1940
Hello...
It's pronounced 'Ha-yo'... 'J' in German is pronounced like a 'Y' in English. Regards. |

Thanks - that's how I say it but I've never heard it pronounced (I can't help but think of Ed McMahon when I see it !)
