P1Y1, 762-24, Azusa Special Attack Unit, March 1945

Hi all,

The P1Y1 Ginga, 762-24 with graffiti inscriptions in the fuselage, of the Azusa Special Attack Unit, which was used in Operation Tan No. 2 and landed at Yap was flown by WO Masaru Ochiai.

Could anyone tell me the names and ranks of the two other crew members of this aircraft on the mission of March 11, 1945?

Regards,
Franklin

You should try posting this at WW2AIRCRAFT.NET forum in the WWII Aviation section.

Hi Franklin, I am very sorry for a delayed response.

According to 762nd naval air squadron “Operation Tan No.2 detailed action report” 1. April 1945, (Japan Center for Asian Historical Records https://www.jacar.go.jp/english/index.html Reference Cord C13120380100 the 2nd image), other crew members of 762 – 24 were pilot PO 1c SASAKI Yoshitsugu, radio operator PO 1c KITAMURA Masakazu. WO OCHIAI was an observer and aircraft commander.

Best Regards,
JYoung
