Rudolf Braunburg-Luftwaffe unit?

Does anyone know what unit Rudolf Braunburg flew with in WWII? His Wikipedia entry just states that he was a fighter pilot.

He wrote a novel about his wartime experience, "Betrayed Skies"

He wrote many books on aviation after the war.

Re: Rudolf Braunburg-Luftwaffe unit?

The information presented is puzzling "Transport unit 42, Ftr unit 44"?? The only fighter unit with no. 44 is JV-44 which was not set up until 1945?
What transport unit used no.42?
I don't always believe what's in the Kracker archives

Re: Rudolf Braunburg-Luftwaffe unit?

Just look at his birth date. He cold not have started in the Luftwaffe before 1942.

Quite wise Kaki
I haven't studied the Kracker site, but perhaps this time he simply means an unknown transport unit in 1942 and an unknown fighter unit in 1944?

Cheers

Re: Rudolf Braunburg-Luftwaffe unit?

If my memory serves me correctly then Braunburg was a member of KG 4 but he claimed he flew only transport missions with his Heinkel 111.
