Hi, Andy...
This is the early unit emblem of Gruppenstab, II.Gruppe/KG3, here seen on a Ju88. There are many images of it also being applied to Do17Zs as well, for example, during the Battle of Britain. The unit became known as the 'Blitz' Geschwader because they later switched their unit emblem to a lightning flash across a shield, the shield's colour differing depending on the specific Gruppe. If you have Ketley & Rolfe's Luftwaffe Emblems 1939-1945 (Hikoki), then the image you ask about is No.286 on page 53. Kindest regards, Paul
