Re: Fine Ju 88's wreck pictures, Italy 1943 - 1944.

Ed,

Many thanks for your thorough explanation; I was really surprised too learn how many planes were thus discarded. It seems at first odd to have such quantities left over.
As for the difficulties identifying hulks, we're on the same line: I have the same issues with late war Bf 109's:-))

And you're most welcome for the pictures. The real credit for them goes to Paul alias Uscapturephoto, on Pixpast forum.
Cheers
Marc

Re: Fine Ju 88's wreck pictures, Italy 1943 - 1944.

Ju 88 xx+FK probably is this (looted condition seems fitting), unless there was other with same code.

(088)822578 Ju 88 A-4 Stab./KG 76 (Luftflotte 2)
OPS (F) damaged (20% Er) in <enemy> low-flying attack at Torturella 18.09.1943
´2578 Ju 88 A-4 "F1+FK" I/KG 76 (Luftflotte 2)
Blown up by own German troops (100%) at Foggia <Torturella> Airfield [Italy] 20.09.1943
Captured as ´looted´ at Foggia Sattelite No.3 Airfield, Italy, autumn 1943
(RAF report)

regards
ed

Some more pics from Paul, but alas, no Ju 88!
http://www.pixpast.com/viewtopic.php...p=13707#p13707

This time we have Bf 109 F "NV+I?" (maybe "Z" for the last letter), unsure if this is Foggia Turturella.

Hs 129 B W.Nr. 0347, location unsure, Italy, 1943.

Usual disclaimer.
