Junkers W34 damaged on April 2, 1943 – Cognac, France

Hello/Bonjour,

On April 2, 1943 a Junkers W34 Werk-Nr.783 is damaged (25%) on the Cognac airdrome, France. This airplane is given as belonging to the FFS C 13, but this school was at the time located (...if I am not mistaken)on the Roth-Kiliansdorf airdrome in Germany which is quite far from the West coast of France...for an airplane whose range is given to around 900 km. I wanted to know if there was not a mistake with another training school located in France – like FFS C 15? The latter has used Cognac - amongst others - during the training of its own crews.

Best regards,
Frederic

Re: Junkers W34 damaged on April 2, 1943 – Cognac, France

Frederic,

the flight must not have been a local training flight but a transport flight for a crew which should pick up an aircraft to be ferried to FFS C 13 or to bring an officer from Germany to his new command post to a unit in France or or ....

Hi/Bonjour Gerhard,

All of these assumptions are good but I am still wondering about this...

Best regards,
Frederic
