Hermann Graf's Fw 190A-5

It is noteworthy that around May 1943, Hermann Graf's Fw 190A-5, WNr. 2594, of JGr. Ost in France received two MG FFs in the outer wing positions in addition to the high-altitute air intakes. Also, the entire cowling was painted yellow with the red triangles being retained. This aircraft was damaged 15% on 22 September 1943 at which time Graf commanded JG 50 in Germany which was established as an anti-Mosquito interceptor unit.

My curiosity is why would the additional armament be added in addition to the high-altitude capability if the aircraft was not destined to enter into combat, perhaps against Mosquitoes. There is no indication that Graf flew combat missions with JGr. Ost in the book, Graf & Grislawski. Was there a Einsatz unit with JGr. Ost where this aircraft might have been utilized? Did Graf consider taking the aircraft with him to Germany? Who, if not Graf, authorized such an upgrade? Where was the aircraft upgraded if not at the factory?
