Re: 27th FG/522ndFS loss
No loss for the 27th FG on that day. There is an A-36 loss on Jan. 29th.
https://www.aviationarchaeology.com/.../44JanMACR.htm I don't show any accidents for the 27th either. https://www.aviationarchaeology.com/...y/Jan1944O.htm |

Re: 27th FG/522ndFS loss
Hello Revi,
Thank you for the reply. I had seen those links which show nil, that is why I asked the question. . 1Lt. Silvio R. Vinciguerra from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was Killed on that date, he does not as far as I can find, have an MACR or Accident Report available on line. But that does not mean for certain that there is not one. Thanks again Alex PS Thanks Col, you got in before I could finish my reply to Review From one of the links - 42-84034 condemned due to enemy action 12/01/1944 . Could be ? Note that as your last link the DPAA also gives an FOD date of 13/01/1946, so more than a year + 1 day Last edited by Alex Smart; 29th June 2019 at 06:03. |

Re: 27th FG/522ndFS loss
Hello,
Re: Vinciguerra's MACR. Quotes P-47D-25-RE, serial 42-26712 ? Totally unsubstantiated, so treat with caution: https://www.archeologidellaria.org/i...hp?topic=910.0 Col. |

Re: 27th FG/522ndFS loss
Just an FYI, in case there is any confusion with the above dates.
If the USA, dates written as "Condemned, enemy action, 12/01/1944." are read as Dec. 1, 1944. 01/12/44 = Jan 1, 1944. 440112 = 44-year/01-month/12-day. I would presume that USAAC paperwork (MACR's, etc.) would follow the same guide lines. Last edited by Revi16; 29th June 2019 at 08:51. |

Re: 27th FG/522ndFS loss
We have discussed Silvio R. Vinciguerra before.
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=52004 He was lost on January 12, 1945. That would be a year and a day before his FOD of January 13, 1946. I still think a good "possibility" for his plane is 42-26712 but as the Col says, treat with caution. While fold3 does not appear to have a MACR for his loss, there is a "possibility" it could be ordered for a fee from a commercial site. I have not explored that option. |
