Re: JG 77 victories
No, the named above are just the KIA and MIA pilots only for that day and not all the crew members KIA and MIA/POW. One was listed as MIA but returned. Thankfully not all crews are KIA and MIA/POW.

Re: JG 77 victories
This one I found in the Leningrad area were the III./JG 77 was attached for a short time to JG 54.
Stab III./JG 77 Fw. Hermann Rolle shot down A "LaGG-3" (unk the victory number) at 14:06 PlQu. 00261. Around 15:00 (Moscow) the Hurricane of 3 AE commissar Gds. Kapt. Dmitriy Prokof'evich Buryak was shot down in a dogfight in the area of Neva Dubrovka (which is in the area of 00261). He forced landed his aircraft because of a wound but obviously not to severe as he was KIA in another air battle on the 28 Sep 42. No matching claims with I./JG 54 which was in that area. |

Re: JG 77 victories
Mikhail,
I seem to have a reference from somewhere that Buryak was shot down and killed by Eugen-Ludwig Zweigart if that helps you any. Nick |

Re: JG 77 victories
Nick,
The incident in question occurred on the 26 Sep 1942 between 14:30 -15:00 (Moscow). Zweigart didn't score that day. After checking all the JG 54 victors and their times I came up empty. Then remembering III./JG 77 was there briefly in Sep 42, I found Rolle with the time 14:06 (Berlin) in the same exact area that Buryak made his forced landing. So 15:06 (M) would not be a great stretch and was the only one meeting both time and location. Michael |

Re: JG 77 victories
On going through what I have for the 28 Sep 42 it does appear that Zweigart did shoot down Burak on that date. In the same battle 9./JG 77 had two claims Uffz Heinrich Stoeckmann an I-180 (?) 15:23 at PlQu. 00252 and Lt. Horst Marotzke an I-180 (32) 15:25 at PlQu. 00262 both listing a height of 500 meters.
This was possibly the Hurricane of the 3 GIAP KBF flown by St. Lt. Vasiliy Ivanovich Chernenko who barely got his severely damaged aircraft to an airfield to force land. |

Re: JG 77 victories
Sorry Michael,
That is what I meant: 28 Sept 42, Zweigert shot down Buryak and killed him on that date as opposed to two days before. Many thanks for the extra info on JG 77. Nick |

Re: JG 77 victories
Most of you have read www.allaces.ru by now especially the episodes from Гвардейцы Балики Крылатой. There are many episodes that I found that are duplicates that have just been written different. Also some with the wrong date and times but so far not to far off. I've been told that the book is controversial even in Russia. After looking hard at the information, locations and times this is what I have come up with for the 30 Sep 1942. I know that some will not agree with me but it is a possible answer. The time listed on the website is 11:25-11:50 (M) which I believe to be wrong. More then likely the actual time is 12:25-12:50 (M). As far as the German claims of a MiG-3 and two Yak-1 with German misidentification were looking at I-16 (Yes, far but possible).
Stab III./JG 77 Kurt Ubben Yak-1 (91) 11:30 PlQu. 00261 at 2000 m. I-16 4 GIAP KBF Kapt. V.I. Petrov attacked according to the site or book at 11:30 (M). But he didn't go down where Ubben listed as he bailed out near Manushkino in PlQu. 0025. So he evaded Ubben and stretched to that location. Next is 4 GIAP KBF pilot Kulikov who was WIA and forced landed at Manushkino. The two remaining claims are Stab III/JG 77 Ofw. H. Hackler Yak-1 (38) 11:46 at 00263 at 800 m. Possibly pursuit took him further then he thought. Finally Lt. H-J. Heyer 8./JG 54 MiG-3 (42) 11:49 at 00254/ at Manushkino at 600 m. Compare the times and heights. |
