Re: P-51D-10 NA
Pilot of the original "Snitz" on 12 December 1944 was Lt Joseph B. Wolfe.
See: http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/s...769&Submit4=Go https://forum.keypublishing.com/show...erodrome/page2 From the link below, it is probable that the crash occured during an operational flight: http://www.8thafhs.com/old/get_one_m...ission_id=1731 |

Re: P-51D-10 NA
12th December, 44, Lt. Joseph B. Wolfe (44-13769) made a crash landing at Base .
If as it is reported, that a/c was destroyed it would be the case that it was used by Snyder previously. Snyder was indeed reported to have crashed 44-14803 on 22nd January '45 after flak damage, becoming a POW. |

Re: P-51D-10 NA
44-13769 crash landing on 12th December was a Cat 4 and it was salvaged on 13th December. At the time it had been recoded to E2-W (Wolfe?)

Re: P-51D-10 NA
Hello Peter,
Thank you for the a/c details. Is it known what use the a/c was put too and pilot(s) names after the December event ? Alex |

Re: P-51D-10 NA
The December event was its demise - per the IARc. Category 4 is a total loss so there would be no pilots after 13th December. As for use, my guess would be that it went to manufacture aluminium pots and pans!

Re: P-51D-10 NA
They have it wrong. Jasper Joker E9-Vbar was 44-14809.
Never trust decal manufacturers for your data! Peter |
