Location of 'Im Grind' north of Rheinberg, crash location of 11 OTU Wellington DV767 1-2.6.1942
Dear all,
I'm trying to establish the exact location of 'Im Grind', which should be somewhere north of Rheinberg - this is the crash location of 11 OTU Wellington DV767 on 1-2 June 1942. Who can help me finding this location? Cheers and thanks, Theo |

Hello Theo,
Was there a quarry or slag heap in that area at the time? Bruce

There is an Im Grund near Düsseldorf but it's 40km South of Rheinberg.

This makes sense completely !!. One, but unimportant question: why were the four deceased of this crash transported to the main cemetary of Krefeld, which is about 20 km away from the crash location. Some other towns like Rheinberg, Dinslaken or Moers were much closer to the crash and had cemetaries. Inasmuch, the incident happened in 1942 and who knows, which policy in this kind of matters played a role those days. Best wishes ! Horst Weber |

Thanks for your input chaps. The crash location details stem from the Original Flak Abschussmeldung.
