Jarek,

It appears that the 3.3.44 mission was to the Berlin area.

On 11.4.44 however there was a mission to Stettin/Szczecin and a candidate for a loss at/near Stargard/Szczecinsk may be B-17G 42-97243 of 92nd BG/325th BS with Lt Charles Easly (10 POW, MACR 3674).

But info welcome about a more precise location for that loss.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: B 17 losses 03.03.44 region Stargard Pom

From what I have gathered, a number of 8th AF BG missions were called back on Mar 3 due to deteriorating weather. Below is what I have gleaned from Joe Baugher's pages for Mar 3 and Mar 8, 1944:

42-31112 (447th BG, 710th BS) lost Mar 3, 1944. MACR 2887
42-31148 (447th BG, 710th BS) lost Mar 3, 1944. MACR 4436
42-38017 (349th BS, 100th BG) damaged by enemy fire during mission to
Berlin and crashlanded Schwelsig Airfield Mar 3, 1944.
The crew mistakenly thought they had reached Sweden.
10 POW. MACR 3025. Aircraft salvaged by Luftwaffe
and operated by KG200, perhaps as A3+GE. Destroyed
at Jagel by P-51s.
42-37986 (381st BG, 534th BS) in midair collision
over Itzehoe, Germany Mar 3, 1944.
42-38075 (94th BG, 331st BS) lost Mar 3, 1944. MACR 2794
42-39817 (100th BG, 349th BS) lost Mar 3, 1944. MACR 3029

42-5950 (94th BG, 410th BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 2997
42-30713 (390th BG, 568th BS, *Phyllis Marie*) made contolled
landing in field near Vaerlose, Denmark Mar 8, 1944 during
mission to Berlin. MACR 2987. Later operated by Luftwaffe.
Found intact in Bavaria May 4, 1945.
42-30829 (388th BG, 563rd BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3081
42-30847 (96th BG, 413rd BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3423
42-31141 (94th BG, 332nd BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 2976
42-31214 (388th BG, 560th BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3085
42-31331 (452nd BG, 731st BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3190
42-31354 (452nd BG, 731st BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3191
42-31403 (96th BG, 413th BS) shot down by fighters Mar 8, 1944
during raid on Berlin. 2 KIA, 8 POW. MACR 3424
42-31471 (303rd BG, 360th BS, "Doolitle's Destroyer") lost Mar 8, 1944.
MACR 2908
42-39892 (91st BG, 401st BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3223
42-39988 (96th BG, 339th BS) lost Mar 8, 1944. MACR 3430
42-40056 (100th BG, 351st BS) shot down by fighters on raid on
Berlin Mar 8, 1944. 10 crew POW. MACR 3032
