Re: III/STG II Immelman

[quote=Doug Stankey;96634I concur that the Cornwell book is a magnificent achievement and deserves to be on every WWII aviation enthusiasts book shelf. It was for me a real eye opener.[/quote]

Right.
I am just sad that Arnaud Gillet's paramount work went unnoticed, probably because it was written in French and was published by himself in France.
Peter sure knows what I'm talking about.

Chris,

Agreed. Gillet's work certainly not unnoticed by me. His analyses of French claims provided a readily accessible and convenient source of reference for which full credit is given in my own work along with others.

Re: III/STG II Immelman

Chris,

We here on the Eagles Over Europe Working Group (EOE WG), of which Peter C. is a member, fully appreciate the value of Arnaud Gillet's work, so much so that we are in the process of having all three volumes of his "French Victories" translated into English, so that it is fully available as a major reference work for our research on the Western Campaign. At present we are half way through the second volume.

Regards,

Re: III/STG II Immelman

Hi,

According to the Volksbund website Hptmn.Paul Mertz and Fw. Oskar Wagner died on 15/05/1940 south of Ferne Ernage, north-west of Gembloux.

Could this location match with Pinteville farm ?

Best regards

Luc
