4./NJG 200

There was a crash of a Do 217 app. 20 miles north of Augsburg, dated May 5th 1944. Some researcher says, it was a Do 217 nightfighter.
Now my questions:
1. Was the 4./NJG 200 equipped with Do 217?
2. Does anybody knows more about this crash?
3. Where was the unit located at that day? Propably Neuburg?
4. What caused the crash?
5. Doed the NJG 200 lost other planes that day as well?
Any info is helpful

Thanks in advance
Rolf

Re: 4./NJG 200

Interesting question Rolf

First of all I have as usual no first hand details, but checking Balss two books the result is nothing. No NJG 200 loss listed on the date you state...

Now NJG 200 is one of those rather obscure units and also rather incoherent. If you check out Holms pages you will find it consisted of various staffeln created on the eastern front, and those in itself also created from other rather obscure units named Nacht Jagd Schwärme Luftflotte 1, 4 and 6 plus 10./ZG 1. (If 8./NJG 200 was formed from scratch or from some previous unit is not stated...)

If anyone by the way can 100% confirm if
1) 4./NJG 200 was formed from NJ Schwarm Lf 4 or 10./ZG 1
or if
2) 5./NJG 200 was formed from 10./ZG 1 of NJ Schwarm Lf 4
I would be very pleased indeed...

Cheers
Stig

Re: 4./NJG 200

Hello Rolf,

II.NJG4 hv still at that time Do217, one landing in Schweiz the 1.mai 44,
NJG200 seems to hv accointance with Ost-front, the units in your area at that time were pre-ops units like NJG101, where come from your info ??
