Apr 24 1944 P-51 shot down
On 24 Apr 1944, 1st Lt. Hipolitus Biel ( 4th FG 334th FS ) was shot down in aerial combat south of Darmstadt in P-51B 42-106636 QP-X
I would like to know how the well-versed members out there possibly determine who shot down Lt. Biel, from what is on Tony Wood's list, if, in fact, it is on the list. I would guess it could have been missed. JaFü I. Jagdkorps/Lfl. Reich: 24.04.44 Oblt. Georg Hiebl: 2 1./JG 11 P-51 SS: 2.000 m. [area N.E. Mannheim] 12.55 Film C. 2027/I Anerk: ASM 24.04.44 Uffz. Re: Apr 24 1944 P-51 shot down
If you know the time that the P-51 went down you should be able to narrow that list down considerably, I should think. Google Maps will help a lot too — you can pretty much rule out the various Bavarian locations for example.

Re: Apr 24 1944 P-51 shot down
Only three 4th FG Mustangs were shot down on 24 April. All three went down to JG11. Ergo one of the three JG 11 shooters probably shot down Biel.
The remaining 12 claims vie for 4 Mustangs shot down between Augsburg -Muhldorf-Munich area plus two Mustangs lost when they collided with their Me 110 victims. The Me 110s emerged into the battle from the northeast toward Erding and lost ten of their force to 357FG Mustangs. The bulk of the 109s in that area were destroyed by the 355th Fg ranging from Augsburg to Erding to SE Munich to west Munich to NNW Munich.
