Tiger Moth R4970

Tiger Moth R4970 crashed near High Post on 3 Sep 40, and was SOC on 17 Oct 40.
It is said to have been operated by 112 Sqn RCAF, but that seems unlikely as this squadron was serving in Africa at the time.
Does anyone know its correct operating unit please?

Tiger Moth II R4970

Hit HT wires 1m NW of High Post aerodrome and crashed. Aircraft totally destroyed by fire

F/O R. F. Brown RCAF

Both uninjured.

It seems that I, and others, have been confused by the fact that there was a 112 Sqn RAF and a 112 Sqn RCAF..

Obviously not only we are confused today, so were the RAF back in 1940.
Initially the unit was re-designated as No 2 (F) Sq but it was pretty quickly realised that was not too smart either, so when someone got the very sensible idea to re-number the Canadian squadrons in a separate range, this and other RCAF in Britain finally received numbers in the 400 range on March 1st, 1941

This unit thus became 402 Squadron RCAF
