Loss of Ju 88 from 3./(F)122 on 29th May 1942

Dear all,

I'm struggling with the loss of the Ju 88 F6+LL (No Wnr) of Fw Hermann Füchtjohann who, according to his own account, made a crash landing near Schiphol on 29th May 1942. The Ju 88 was a write off as the starboard engine was torn out of the wing.

However, I can't find this loss in the GQM list. There is a loss however one day earlier at 28th May 1942, Wnr 430236 (No codes) damaged for 65%.

Does anybody have any other info on file which may indicate whether above mentioned incidents are one and the same or perhaps 2 seperate losses?

Thanks in advance,
Hans

The location and % damaged for the loss on 28-May matches, but other than that, I have the same info you have -

Hi Rémi and Jim,

Actually the info comes from a letter from Mr Füchtjohann in 1985. There might be a possibility that he's wrong about the date, but I noticed that several 3.(F)/122 incidents are not mentioned in the GQM lists.

Therefore I'm a bit careful to match his account with the incident the day before, certainly as Füchtjohann himself and his observer were wounded, which normally would have been listed in the GQM list too. But this isn't the case with the incident the day before on 28th May.

Regards,
Hans
