Oblt Ulrich Schiele

Does anyone have anything on this pilot? He was originally a recce observer, wounded around 6 Nov 42 (when he got the wound badge) but coverted to Jabos only to be killed in a landing accident at Tours 12 Jul 44 by which time he had 138 missions as a beobachter and 11 and a pilot

Re: Oblt Ulrich Schiele

Remi: Thanks again. Personal file?? I have he was born 21 Apr 13, Lt 1 Feb 40, Oblt 1 Mar 42, EKII 5 May 41, EK I 5 Aug 41. Frontflugspange in Gold for Recce 9 Oct 42. He became a pilot 13 May 43, short time with NAG 102 before going to Erg/SKG 1o 5 Jun 43. He became Staffel Fuehrer 1/SKG 10 23 Jun 44 but was killed 12 Jul 43. Another example of Luftwaffe aircrew being totally unsuited for some of the new roles-138 missions as a recce Beobachter and just 11 as a night Jabo pilot
