What time was Alfred Budde killed?
Dear All,
This site http://www.luftwaffe.cz/budde.html says that Alfred Budde was killed in action on 27 December 1944: On 27 December 1944, Budde was involved in aerial combat with RAF Spitfires over the Schnee Eifel. His Fw 190 A-8 (W.Nr. 171 002) “Black 10” suffered structural failure of the wings and he was killed in the resulting crash. Do you happen to know (more or less) the exact time? Thank you very much in advance. |

Re: What time was Alfred Budde killed?
Dear John, Dear Michel,
Thank you very much for your answers. By the way, which Vörden do you mean: Neuenkirchen-Vörden in Germany, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuenkirchen-V%C3%B6rden, or Vorden in the Netherlands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorden? |

Re: What time was Alfred Budde killed?
The first one. If you look on google earth some 8 km south you will find the former airfield Vörden. After the war it became a Nike-site and now is a Truppenübungsplatz. You can still see the three runways clearly.

In any event, as far as I know there weren't any combats between Spitfires and Fw 190s that day (though I'm happy to be corrected if wrong!). |

Re: What time was Alfred Budde killed?
Found where I read that he was lost in combat with P-47s: John Weal's JG 54 book published by Osprey. No details given, no source listed, so...
