This'll be a keeper!
Have thoroughly enjoyed Jeffrey Cox other two books - Morning Star Midnight Sun, and Blazing Star Setting Sun.

Re: Dark Waters, Starry Skies: The Guadalcanal-Solomons Campaign, March–October 1943
I just finished this book on Audible books. It was 31 hours and 15 minutes of enjoyable listening while driving. This book has everything from naval battles, ground battles and air battles. It also discusses the Japanese atrocities committed against Allied military personnel captured with the murder of German citizens of Missionaries. The sides of coverage is from Japanese, American, Australian and New Zealand perspectives. I enjoy submarine warfare history and the Japanese sub attacks off Australia was very fascinating. The naval battles during this period of time are filled with personal stories of both sides as the fighting is taking place. The ground war on the islands is also covered in the same manner. The American and Japanese air battles is covered in the same manner, whether its Japanese aircraft raiding Guadalcanal or American Navy or Army aircraft fighting Japanese bombers and fighters, which is some fascinating stories. Jeffrey Cox has gone into the supply problems that the Japanese were having getting material to their troops. If you like reading it in book form or like me listening to it, I highly recommend this book.
