Re: B-24D "Honky Tonk Gal"

B-24D 42-40265 "HONKY TONK GAL" of 409BS / 93 BG / 8th Air Force, lost on 1.August 1943 while attached to 9th Air Force. Codes listed as YM*W

For readers unfamiliar with the term, a "Honky Tonk" is a cheap / tawdry / 'lower-grade' club for drinking and dancing...

As ever, thank you. Ed, for posting these lost gems,
GRM

Re: Honky Tonk Gal

To follow up on George's information on this aircraft, BG was attached to the 9th for Operation Tidal Wave, the low level attack on the Ploesti oil fields and was lost during this mission.

George, how do you know about "honky tonks"?
