German town name

I have a town spelled Wenmspesweiler from a December 14, 1944 mission report for the 354th Fighter Group. I have had no luck finding this town, or even various spellings of it. It should be in the Merzig, Lebach, Neunkirchen general area, Does anyone have an idea of what the actual name should be for this town? Thank you.

Re: German town name

Matti,

That name did appear when I was trying variations of Wenmspesweiler. Google asked if I meant Baesweiler and when that map popped up, there was Wemmetsweiler. I suppose it could be the name I seek. I will see if anyone else has ideas before making a final decision. Thank you for your lead, though!

Re: German town name

If that's not the place you want, try looking at the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. There are places there ending in "…weiler" too.

Re: German town name

A big thanks to everyone for the possible locations. I had no idea there would be so many to choose from! I am pretty sure I am looking at a town in the Saarland region, but may end up having to list the spot as "possibly...."
