Major Kurt Holler Stab III./NJG 4

Does anyone have any personal details about Major Kurt Holler who was the Gruppenkommandeur of III./NJG 4 between 01/05/42 and 22/06/43.

I believe he was killed on this last date, does anyone know any details of this incident.

Any information concerning date of birth, promotions and decorations would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

David.

Maj. Kurt Holler: 9./NJG1 Stab III./NJG4 18 Victories.

Killed 21-22.6.43 at Duivendijke, Schouwen Island in return fire from bomber.

"Maj. Kurt Holler of Stab III./NJG4 (temporarily detached to 1./NJG1 and flying from Gilze-Rijen airfield) shot down a 429 Squadron Wellington in Zeeland province for his 18th Abschuss. While intercepting a second bomber at 01:41, his Bf110 E-2 G9 + AD was hit by return fire and Holler crashed to his death at Duivendijke on Schouwen, Zeeland. His Bordfunker, Fw. Robert Gotha, escaped with slight injuries to fight another day."

Hello David,

Just a small addition -- both Hptm Kurt Holler and his BF Uffz Robert Gotha served with 3./ZG26 before they moved to the nightfighters. They flew a total of 6 combat missions together and were transferred as a crew to III./NJG1 on 5 Oct 1940.
