KGr zbV 101 disbandment date?
Does anyone know when KGr zbV 101 was disbanded? Rosch and Tessin say Dec 41 or Winter 41-42 while Holm and Morzik say following Crete. And, if the former, did it ever go to the Eastern Front?

Re: KGr zbV 101 disbandment date?
Actually, the K.Gr.z.b.V. 101 was activated at least three times. First time on 7 April 1940 as a part of the invasion of Norway (Operation Weserübung). The 53 aircraft (Stab and four Stafeln) were drawn from Blindflugschulen and the units base became Neumünster. Gruppenkdr. was Oberstltn. Mund. On 18 April 1940, the unit absorbed the remains of K.Gr.z.b.V. 102 and continued as K.Gr.z.b.V. 101. The unit was disbanded in Neumünster on 5 May, 1940. All aircraft and crews retuned to their original units.
However, the K.Gr.z.b.V. 101 was activated in connection with the invasion of France, Netherlands and Belgium on 10 May 1940. This was done shortly before the invasion started. The unit remained operational until disbanded between 13 and 20 July 1940. The Unit was again activated some time between 22 and 29 March 1941, also this time with Stab and four Staffeln. It became subordinated to the Stab of K.G.z.b.V. 2. On 13 May 1941 the unit was located as follows: 49 (42 serviceable) Ju 52 at Belgrade-Zemun 4 Ju 52 as advanced detachment at Megara 3 Ju 52 performing transport for Luftflotte 4 from Athen-Tatoi On 4 June 1941 the unit was disbanded from active duty and ordered to pull back. This was effected between 11 and 16 June 1941. |

Thanks for the info. Makes sense that it was disbanded post-Crete.
