Pilot Officer John Gillespie Magee Jr

Pilot Officer John Gillespie Magee Jr who wrote the "High Flight" poem had a brother in the USAAF David Magee.
Does anyone have any information on which group he flew in or where he was stationed.
Thanks.
Rick
