Info Needed on a Specific Pilot (document attached)

Hey guys,

A friend asked me to try to find some information on his relative:

Johann Christian Hohl
Born: Lorch, Baden Württemberg, 1896

He flew in WW1, and in WW2 was captured and became a US POW.

There is this one document, but much of it I cannot read. It appears to show him being captured in 1943. From what I understand, this was in Africa.

Can anyone help with a brief translation and maybe further info?

Yes...but 90% I cannot read. I am trying to find out more info in regards to what this says (like any important info), and if there is other info on this member.

This guy was a Hauptmann with Flugzeugfuehrerschule E16 at Burg bei Magdeburg. Their are details of his hospitalisations at Wernigerode and notes on his capture on May 13, 1943 in Tunesia. Also their are notes on enquiries made about him by his great-nephew in the USA and that other details on his service are not available, such as awards.

It struck me that if he was born in 1896 he’d be old to be an airman by 1943.

Nick, I know about two officers born about 1880 and still flying with the Luftwaffe in 1943!

In Africa he was an member with Arbeitsstab Tunis, a kind of logistic Command.
PoW in the USA, he goes from Washington (I think D.C.) to an PoW Camp 100 in Texas. Released 21.Mai 1946
Dog Tag: -478- "L" Leipheim (Leipheim Bavaria was one of the oldest German Military Airfields).

Not so fast Nick, my uncle was also born in '96 and was still actively flying 109's in April, 1945.

I know older guys did fly but most of the airman casualties seem to have been in their early 20s, don't they?
