Photo DFW C.V
Hello,
Currently on ebay at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/100-Original....c100010.m2109 there is a photo of a DFW C.V (Av) of FA (A) 240. There serial number is not completely clear, but would appear to read DFW (Av) 9156. This however is unusual as the nearest Aviatik produced batch according to Aeronaut's DFW Aircraft of WWI P.104 runs from C.9005/16 to C.9104/16. Has anyone any other DFW C.V (Av) serials after C.9104/16 but prior to C.9156/16? A further note, I'm also not sure that the photo is original as I beieve this image may have appeared in Over The Front in 1987. Has anyone that copy in order to be able to advise? Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo DFW C.V
Clint
While the photo gives retractable landing gear a whole new meaning, the serial number is hard to read, probably because being partly covered in dirt and quite possibly also after receipt of an added bonus of some sandblasting.... Just to play a little with the digits here, what do you think about DFW (Av) C.156/17 or perhaps an 8 instead of a 6? Just another shaky theory of mine.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo DFW C.V
Hello Stig,
Thanks for the suggestions which really helped, and indeed were 75% correct, or so I believe. I think the machine is in fact C.2156/18 conveniently a DFW C.V (Av). Factor in the scuffing you referenced and I believe we have a winner! Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo DFW C.V
Yes Clint
I can live with that... Cheers Stig PS: Checking other Aviatik built C.V in 1918 I can also confirm they did not put any C in front of the serial number. Last edited by Stig Jarlevik; 9th March 2020 at 11:34. Reason: Added information |

Re: Photos DFW C.V
Hello,
Today on ebay a photo of DFW C.Vc 17248/17 at : https://www.ebay.de/itm/4-stk-Milita...oAAOSwFRxedPaC Also part of the same item a Albatros C.XII ans a Albatros B.II. If all photos taken at the same location a training unit would appear to be involved giben the DFW C.Vc and Albatros B.II were used as trainers and the Albatros C.XII has wooden wheels used late war by training units due to the rubber shortage. Re: Photo DFW C.V
Hi. I think the shield on the first DFW is the city emblem of Kiel? or a variation.
