Ju 88 Squadron Emblem - help needed please.

Dear all,

Have tried, via Google to find references (Kampfgeschwader) regarding this Ju 88 Staffeln or Gruppe emblem (depicted). Got no joy.

Does anyone do have any clue about the possible unit ?

It looks like an Aufklärungsgruppe or "recon" Staffeln....place seems to be Russia, since the lower part of the picture do show airmen over snow...

Sadly, I do have no books (as on the previous thread about Squadron identity) related to Luftwaffe Heraldry or Squadron Symbols and Badges.

Any help is most welcomed

Adriano

Although similar to one of the FFS, the two photos I have of Wekusta 26 Do 17s show the same badge

Hello Chris!

FFS C 16, later B 16,Burg, used a black owl on yellow shield as badge, too.
From 1942 FFS C 16 was a training unit especially for Ju 88.

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang

Dear Graf, Piero, Wolf and Chris,

Thank you for clarifying and identifying this Squadron emblem...

Although the back of the photograph do show an AGFA paper (and it seemed original for me), maybe I have been mistaken to buy a "copy" from this siste onto an old paper...who knows....and I bought on the same batch another Picture of a Fw 190 A-6 who do appears as well onto the site you mentioned....Very strange indeed, although the back of the Picture is an old AGFA photo paper as well....

One need to be alert on Ebay to not be mistaken onto "fake" photographs.

Thank you again for the identification of this emblem and indeed of the same Picture I acquired thinking it was original....

Here the front and back of those I acquired...sadly it seems they may be copies...thankfully I have not paid too much on each of those...

Most humbly yours (and always learning...even though at some personal cost!),

Baumgartner
