Re: P/O Timewell, 615 Sqn.

Thank you very much udf_00

There is no informations in the RAF Fighter Command losses (revised edition) about him

Do we know the circumstances of the death, the crash, the serial of the Hurricane ?

Thank you again.

Re: P/O Timewell, 615 Sqn.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peop...a7286006.shtml
"On 4th August Pilot Officer Timewell crashed 11 miles to the SE of the base, and the search was conducted by Sqn. Ldr. Gillam and Flight Lt. Hugo."

MILITARY AIRCRAFT CRASH SITES IN NORTH-WEST WALES
Hurricane MkII Z2404,
The aircraft was assigned to 238/401/402/615 Squadron,
Caught fire and crashed 1.5 miles SE of Newborough.

According to René Mouchotte
27 july 1941 entry : the squadron was suffering from an epidemic of engine fires caused by glycol "sabotaged" with acid.
6 august entry : back at Valley to learn of Timewell death, engine problem, a/c on fire, baled out too low.

Re: P/O Timewell, 615 Sqn.

Thank you again udf_00

Now it's clear for me.

René Mouchotte had written in a letter that the crash of P/O Timewell was on 8th august and not the 4th.

Secondly I thought about the Hurricane it was the V6936 and not Z2404.

Thank you again,
