Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
Hello, I found online today the following PDF listing (as far as I know) operations from 2nd TAF squadrons (both bombers and fighter) from 1st September 1944 to the end of the war, with the claimed results on the ground:
https://www.rijkswaterstaat.nl/apps/...OII/2ndTAF.pdf I think I won't be the only one interested by this document. By the way you can check other WWII air war documents available in the same folder: https://www.rijkswaterstaat.nl/apps/...chtoorlogWOII/ |

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
What a great find. Thanks so much for the link.
I have always been a Tempest and 'Big Show' follower and there is good detail in this document. Does anyone know what the acronyms 'TRG' and 'MET' indicate as ground targets? Others like LOCOS, BARGES are self explanatory. Tony |

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
MET = motor engine transport (trucks basically)
TRG ... no idea |

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
TRG are "Trucks-Goods" , i.e. Train Freight Cars
HDT Horse drawn transport Many terms/abbreviations can be found here: http://www.easy39th.com/files/Specia...ology_1943.pdf There are multiple sections to the booklet which contains both British and American terms and abbreviations. Last edited by RSwank; 22nd December 2018 at 00:46. |

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
Thoughts on acronym NYR ? I am guessing "Not Yet Returned" as it is used under losses.

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
Tony, I think that is a good guess. On pdf page 477, for Oct 28, 1944 is the notation:
1 A/C of 400 Sqn N.Y.R. That would seem to match to this loss: http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=50678 http://www.400squadron.ca/Members/ho...nant-pilot1944 |

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
That's how I've read it, and FTR is "Failed To Return".

Re: Very interesting document for 2nd TAF
Not that it changes the price of cheese .... but strictly speaking 'MET' is 'Mechanised Enemy Transport'.

Interesting that the WWII booklet of British (and US) Military terms here:
http://www.easy39th.com/files/Specia...ology_1943.pdf has on pdf page 165 "MET Mechanical Transport (reconnassiance code) or miscellaneous enemy transport." |
