Mersu - Finnish Air Force Bf 109G
Hi everyone,
I am globally researching the FAF as a user of Bf 109G, using a lot of materials, including notably of course the fabulous book from Kari Stenmann and other French aviation magazines that were dedicated to the Mersu. http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2019/0...9g-suomen.html My first question would be about the Bf 109G-6 MT-466, most specifically post-war around its night fighting period in 1948. Some particularities of the planes were tall tail "à la G-10", sometimes underwing cannon gondolas, a typical green Finnish Air Force camouflage scheme (at least except for the engine cover). However, few things that are annoying me, I found several conflicting pictures of (supposedly) MT-466. Differences are essentially around the canopy (Erla or early framed style), the engine cover camouflage, the spinner color. I must say that on many pictures, the number -466 is not clearly identifiable, so there is always a risk of a wrong identification of the plane, a wrong legend for the pic. Putting this aside for a moment and before detailing those differences, I would like to know whether it is possible that : - many details change during the course of the life of this aircraft, like the type of canopy for ex (vey unlikely to me) ? - a plane may change of number ? For ex can a plane with the immatriculation MT-466 change its immatriculation to another number and vice versa (there also I would believe that this is vey unlikely) ? Am I missing something ? Many thanks in advance for your help and stay safe ! Last edited by chip67; 17th March 2020 at 18:24. |
