Shot Down Ju.52-16.4.45 Prague Area
Bought a Flight Log Book from Transportgeschwader 2, Jan 1943 -April 1945. Log Book belonged to Rudolf Griese, last entry 16.4.45 his Junker 52 plane destroyed by low flying aircraft. I think they had taken off from Prague area, my question was he killed ? Regards

Hi,
it seems that the aircraft was destroyed on the ground. Regards Robert |

Re: Shot Down Ju.52-16.4.45 Prague Area
Thanks Robert, Merlin, seems I jumped to the wrong conclusion, as the plane was destroyed on the ground, there's a good chance Griese survived. Interesting Log Book circa 80 front flights from Crete to the Breslauer pocket and a east front pocket (Kessel) 13/14.2.45 I can't read, if anyone can, could they let me know. Regards

@ErwinR:
Can you give us the identity of the Ju 52 which was destroyed on 16.4.45 (left side of flight log), please? Gerhard @ErwinR Can you please show the left side of the Flight Log page, to be able to identify the aircraft involved. Thanks Gerhard |

Re: Shot Down Ju.52-16.4.45 Prague Area
Just to make everyone aware that Gerhard's mail was not accepted until today, the 17th, but still get listed on the 13th (the day he answered).
I have just ensured it gets to the top of the list. Cheers Stig |

Gerhard,
Here's a picture of the entries on the left side of the log book, which you asked for. If you have any further relevant information, I would be interested to hear from you. Regards |

Re: Shot Down Ju.52-16.4.45 Prague Area
Erwin,
many thanks for the scan. I read the reg as 8T+AU. This is a "Verbandskennzeichen", so there is a certain probability that different aircraft carried this reg over the time. I have a note that WNr 5531 Skz VA+DO carried Vkz 8T+AU at some time in its career. But I don't know if 8T+AU was still the same aircraft in April 1945. Regards Gerhard |
