Re: Unknown device
Sorry for the possible wrong technical term, but it may be a rocket from a radial engine.
The ones from BMW 801 seem shorter. At least, it lacks a scale !!! ClinA-78 |

Re: Unknown device
Many thx for your interest!
I was too late aware re the scale. Here the complete foto, including a MG- cartridge for scale. Sorry to say that I do not know what a rocker is . Not a motor biker. Evidently from an US-engine, as mentioned also in BMW engines? Hope the new for helps. Best dnalor |

Re: Unknown device
The proper term would be "lifter". No idea for which engine.

Re: Unknown device
It rocks or, better, it rolls! Roller I mean (galet in French).

Re: Unknown device
Here are some similar looking parts for a Lycoming engine.
https://www.lycoming.com/parts/tappets If you measure the diameter and thickness of the roller exactly in both metric and inches it may be possible to decide if the part is for a German or Allied plane. Some other measurements that might reveal something would be the diameter of the pin through the roller and the diameter and length of the shaft. |

Re: Unknown device
Thank you all for your replies.
Finally I have an imagination what tappet and or rocker means. I can take the measures in a few days and I wonder what engine it can be asigned to. German and USAAF crashed planes are close together in the Tyrol. on 3rd Aug. 1944. atb dnalor |

Re: Unknown device
Hello All,
I was able to measure the item now. I hope it helps and it is enough. Did not weigh it. There is not one number (sign) on the item ingraved, which would mostly be on US parts. Anyway, I will be glad about a solution. Do you think it would be necessary (adventageous) publishing this request on German Luftwaffe discussion board too ? Thy for your great effort. Best ginamod |

Re: Unknown device
Hi
I would suggest you try to find people knowledgable about Warbirds. The Flypast and the WIX boards are good places https://forum.keypublishing.com/forum/historic-aviation http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/ Steve |
