Renard R-40 Aircraft - fate
Hi Everyone,
3 types of Main landing Gear were studied by Messier for the belgian airfraimer Renard R-40 type beginning of 1940. This aircraft was a derivative of the R-36 fighter and had a pressurized cabin which could be ejected if required. This aircraft was funded by the french DoD. Unfortunately, I have no info about his fate altough this aircraft flew just before the blitz. I found no photos on this unusal belgian aircraft. Do you have feedback on the fate of the aircraft and photos? cheers Jerome |

Re: Renard R-40 Aircraft - fate
Jerome
The R-40 was not finished. The aeroplane along with the Renard factory was evacuated in advance of the German onslought to France, the aeroplane in bits and pieces. However since the front never stabelised the aeroplane itself was abandoned at Tournai where it is reported as destroyed during a bombing of the town itself Cheers Stig |
