Re: Photo Aviatik D.I

The white band and wheels are Flik.74J's; Korporal Josef Kunz was killed in a landing accident in it. The tail cross has been "decorated" as were several others in the unit.
"Mizzi" is probably his girlfriend or wife, a colloquial for Maria.
The 138-series was Aviatik-built, and the large hexagons were their pattern.

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of what I believe may be Aviatik D.I 38.51,sometime of Flik 63/J,but I'm not totally convinced I'm reading the serial number correctly. Its at:

Re: Photo Aviatik D.I

Looks like it Clint

the digits 51 seems solid enough.
The other possibilities of the prefix (to me) such as 58 (not valid), 53.51 (Albatros) and 33.51 (B.III) seems very unlikely.

Cheers
Stig
