Pilot of Ju 88G-6, WNr 620132 '4R+OR' on 31.12.1944

Hi.

Has anyone got the name of the pilot of this aircraft lost on this date?

He must either have been killed, wouded or have returned, as he is not on the missing list in the aircraft loss record.

The pilot was Hptm. Alfred Kühn. He may have returned with the a/c and that this a/c actually did not crash. All other three crewmembers (Seidel, Hoferichter and Schwartz) baled out over Allied territory (near Venlo) and ended up as POW's. Seidel and Schwartz were injured. The a/c and crew belonged to 7./NJG 2. Sources: RL2-III-1171/a and ADI(K) No. 69/1945. I believe Hptm. Alfred Kühn was later killed in April 1945 over Holland, but i have to check my files for that.

Just following up on this "old" case. Does anybody have information that this Ju 88 WNr. 620132 returned to base after 3 men of the the crew baled out and became POW? It is certain that Hptm. Alfred Kühn returned to base. But did he with his a/c or do he bail out too????

Hi John,

the only clue I can offer is from ULTRA - if the entry is correct regarding W.Nr.

CX/MSS/R.436/A/71 simply states 620132 was at Stade on 14/1/45.

The entry reads (the rows here appear as columns in the original document):

If correct, presumably Hptm. Kühn didn't bale out, otherwise the Ju88 would likely have been destroyed.

Thanks Rod, I think that is a clear indication that the a/c returned. Unfortunately the relatives of Hptm. Kühn have no documents at all.
