263 Squadron Gladiator codes

The latest issue of Flypast has an interesting article about 263 Sqn operations in Norway during 1940.
The article states "N5641/HE-B, later destroyed on 25 April 1940".
Now this aircraft was of course later recovered, and is now displayed in the museum at Bodo. However, it is now marked as HE-G, and the museum itself clearly believes this to be the correct code:
https://www.norwegianaviationmuseum....r-gladiator-ii
However, looking online, this page also goes with HE-B:
http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/gladiator_raf_263.htm

However, HE-B is also associated with the RAF museum's N5628 - indeed the museum's own history of this aircraft mentions code B.

Can anyone confirm either way please?
Andy

No idea if any of this will help clear it up?

Re: 263 Squadron Gladiator codes

Thanks. It doesn't actually answer my question, but does illustrate how complicated the history of this unit's aircraft in 1940 was.

Re: 263 Squadron Gladiator codes

Hi Andy,

When N5628 was raised from the lake it bore a very faint trace of the letter 'B' on the fuselage. I have photos of N5641 in the shed but they don't show much of the fuselage. Most of the photos from this period show the aircraft as wrecks. However N5579 was also recovered from the lake at the same time as N5641 and it was coded HE+D. The fuselage was towed to a village where it was confiscated by the German.
I don't know where Bodo Museum got its info from regarding the codes. I tried to get in touch when I was researching for my book but I never received a reply.
