Werner Moelders and those who crashed with him

I am wondering if anyone knows the first names of the people who crashed along with Werner Moelders on 22 November 1941 in Breslau-Schoengarten. They were:

Oberleutnant Kolbe (pilot of the He 111)
Major Wenzel (Moelders' adjutant)
Oberfeldwebel Tenz (radio operator)
Oberfeldwebel Hobbie (flight engineer)

I am mainly interested in learning Major Wenzel's first name. If anyone has the answer(s), please e-mail me at Feldpost@aol.com

Thanks!

Barry

Wenzel

Hello Barry

I have the following names of those involved in the crash of He 111 H-6 "1G+BT" (W.Nr. 4513) of 9./KG 27:

Oberleutnant Georg Kolbe
Major Paul Wenzel
Oberfeldwebel Arthur Tenz
Oberfeldwebel Hobble

The information concerning Wenzel's first name is from Osprey's Fokker D VII Aces of World War I part 1 by Norman Franks and Greg Van Wyngarden. It includes a photograph of him on page 47 while serving as a Leutnant with Jasta 6. It appears that he claimed 10 victories in the Great War and was acting CO of Jasta 6 from 19 July to 11 August 1918, when he was wounded in combat with 209 Sqn, RAF. He died on 30 January 1964 at age 77. Please look at www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/wenzel.php for more information, including his victory list. I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo

Re: Werner Moelders and those who crashed with him

This is most interesting as this evening I was updating our file on Werner Moelders.

Here's what we have on Wenzel:

WENZEL, Paul.
(DOB: 15.02.82 or 24.01.87?).
(n.d.) WW I fighter pilot and Werner Moelder’s last adjutant.
01.10.41 promo to Obstlt.
†30.01.64 in Düsseldorf.

I hope this helps.
