Olt. Jakob Schmitt were killed possibly one day earlier on the 17 March 1944 near Berchères-la-Maingot NE Chartres. 15.00 Luftkampf with P-51. *23.1.1915 Darmstadt-Eberstadt

Lt. Werner Kannegießer were killed 300 m east of Moosbeuren/Biberach an der Riß, SW Ulm. 14.50 Luftkampf with P-51. *13.1.1923

Thanks. I was listening to an interview with Don Blakeslee where he recounted a fight he and Capt. Gentile had and was trying to determine who the opposition was; he and Gentile each claimed FW-190s "10 miles south of Augsburg" around 1425. Perhaps Kannegiesser was one of the losses?

Billy Hovde - 355th ace - shot down two Fw 190s from near Gunsberg to Augsburg 1425-1445 18 March.
