Major Herbert Lorch RK (II./KG1) and the plate of Ju88A-4
Hello,
Major Herbert Lorch RK (II./KG1), Ju88A-4 WNr 4170 was downed by fighters on 19.Aug.42 near Kolodesy (Колодези) 115 km NE Bryansk. This plate was found in May 2023, presumably at the crash site: https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/mord...33073_1000.jpg Is it possible to assume if this plate has anything to do with WNr 4170? Best regards, Andrey |

I thought WNr.4170 was a Ju88A-5?

According to Gen.Qu.Abt.6 return, it was Ju88A-4.

Re: Major Herbert Lorch RK (II./KG1) and the plate of Ju88A-4
According my notes the production of WNr.144xxx started in 1942-07- its more likely thats its WNr.088 4170.

A shot of one of the parts found with the factory number, maybe WNr of the motor:

Re: Major Herbert Lorch RK (II./KG1) and the plate of Ju88A-4
There are several Gen.Qu.6.Abt. entries for Ju 88 A-4s (144xxx) in August 1942. It apparently did not take long for the aircraft to get to the front and into combat.
