Rudolf Wagner

Hi all

On 11 October 1943, Leutnant Rudolf Wagner (81 victories, RK, missing in action 13 December 1943) collided in aerial combat with Unteroffizier Helmut Neu near Yarzevo. Wagner survived with injuries while Neu was listed as missing. Both pilots were serving with 10./JG 51 at the time. Is there any information concerning the Bf 109 G-6 aircraft that these pilots were flying on this date? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Horrido!

Leo

Hi Jim

I am very grateful for your reply to my question concerning Leutnant Rudolf Wagner. I had just happened upon the information that he was involved in a collision, which is not mentioned in Obermaier, last night and am most thankful for the loss list information that you have posted. Thanks! At least now I know why there is a gap from 6 October to 30 November in his victory list, and why he re-appeared with 12./JG 51. Wagner may not be one of the better known JG 51 aces but he certainly was a "rising star" at the time of his loss. Too bad there is one victory missing in his victory list that I have. That is frustrating to some extent but nothing one can do. Many thanks for your generous help once again!

Horrido!

Hi guys

I hope that everyone is doing well these days. Yes, I did not have access to the relevant volume of Die Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1934 bis 1945 by Prien, Stemmer, Rodeike and Bock at the time and could only go with what older sources had mentioned about this particular ace. This thread dates from October 2006 ... that was quite some time ago!

Horrido!
