Re: Lw. Transport units in Russia summer 1943

Thanks hucks216. Browsing the internet I found this post -
http://www.lwag.org/forums/showthread.php?p=25285
that seems to further confirm 12./T.G. 3 ops in Southern Russia in summer 1943.

That is handy as it has just helped me to identify a signature in the Soldbuch, that of Vandieken although the Ordensträger only has him listed as a winner of the Ehrenpokal and not the DKiG.

The poster on LWAG also said:

Quote:
Luftwaffen-Oberleutnant Otto Vandieken (born 28.10.1908) who belonged to the 12. Staffel/Transportgeschwader 3 as a squadron leader and was stationed near Zaporozhye (Ukraine) on 7.24.1943 supplying the "boiler" in Stalingrad.
Probably not flying supplies to Stalingrad on 24 July 1943.

However I have trouble reading some of the crew names, provably have not got it right. Especially the person named Ulmenich, Ulmerich?

best regards,
Pawel

Re: Lw. Transport units in Russia summer 1943

I just rediscovered another logbook on my hard drive - that of FF Jürgen Pfau of T.G. 3. As he regularly flew 4V+IU a/c I presume he was a member of 10./T.G. 3 at the time, with main base probably Saporoshje. According to logbook this unit transferred out of Russia on 26.7.1943.
