The Me-109 G windscreen

Hi to all,

I have a small question: after observing many Messerschmitt Bf-109 pictures, it seems clear to me that the Windschutz or windscreen on all of the Me-109 G variants is the same, whether it is a G-2 or a G-10. Is this assumption correct?

And does anyone have the correct dimensions and sizes (e.g. blueprints) for the main parts of this windscreen?

Thanks a lot!

Kind regards,

Vinnie

The Me-109 G windscreen

Hello Vinnie

I looked at the Aero Detail 05 - Messerschmitt Bf 109G book and based on the drawings included in that reference it would appear that the windscreen was the same for the G-series. Unfortunately, I have no idea regarding the measurements of this but I did come across a replica for sale at http://www.aeroart.de/en/detail.php?artikelID=64. Perhaps you can contact the sellers and ask for the dimensions?

Horrido!

Leo

Re: The Me-109 G windscreen

I'm really making progress with the process of getting everything together to make my own windscreen (the blueprints are fantastic, Mike! ).
I now have an original relic Me-109 G windscreen side panel, but because of the rust it is very hard to get the details together.

-Does anyone know what the exact thickness of the steel was? My panel thickness measures between 1,70 and 2,04 mm...

Re: The Me-109 G windscreen

Hi Vinnie!

I have original frame and measurements are:

Thickness is everywhere 1,5 mm, but some parts are different, look photos.
3.0 mm part is bended 180 degrees from 1,5 mm thick part, thats why it is 3,0 mm.

cheers

Hi Vesa,

Thank you for your clear answer and pictures! That was just what I needed!
And your windscreen is really beautiful, ready to install on a Bf-109
